SSS Contribution CalculatorHow the SSS maternity benefit is computed
The maternity benefit is a daily cash allowance multiplied by your number of leave days:
Benefit = (Sum of 6 highest MSCs ÷ 180) × number of days
The first part — sum of your 6 highest Monthly Salary Credits ÷ 180 — is your Average Daily Salary Credit (ADSC). Since the MSC used for maternity is capped at ₱20,000, the highest possible ADSC is ₱666.67. Multiplied by the 105 days for a live birth, that is the well-known ₱70,000 maximum.
Number of compensable days
- 105 days — live birth (normal or cesarean; the method no longer changes the count).
- 120 days — live birth for a qualified solo parent.
- 60 days — miscarriage or emergency termination of pregnancy.
Worked example
A member whose 6 highest MSCs are all ₱20,000:
ADSC = (₱20,000 × 6) ÷ 180 = ₱666.67
Live-birth benefit = ₱666.67 × 105 = ₱70,000.
A member with an average salary of ₱15,000 (MSC ₱15,000):
ADSC = (₱15,000 × 6) ÷ 180 = ₱500
Benefit = ₱500 × 105 = ₱52,500.
Qualifying conditions
- At least 3 monthly contributions within the 12-month period before the semester of your childbirth or miscarriage.
- You must have notified SSS of your pregnancy (the Maternity Notification).
- Available to employed, voluntary, self-employed, OFW and even separated members who meet the contribution rule.
How to claim your maternity benefit
Employed members file through their employer, who advances the benefit and is later reimbursed by SSS. Voluntary, self-employed and separated members file directly with SSS (online via My.SSS or at a branch), submitting the maternity notification and required documents such as the child's birth certificate.
What expecting mothers worry about most
"When will I actually receive the money?"
If you're employed, your employer must advance the full benefit within 30 days of filing your maternity notification — you don't wait until after delivery. SSS later reimburses your employer.
"I only have a few months of contributions — do I still qualify?"
You need at least 3 monthly contributions in the 12 months before the semester of your delivery. It's not about how long you've been a member, just those 3 contributions and a filed maternity notification.
"Is this on top of my salary, or instead of it?"
The SSS benefit replaces your salary during leave. Many employers add salary differential to top it up to your full pay — ask your HR whether your company grants it.
"Can I share leave with the baby's father?"
Yes — you can transfer up to 7 days of your leave to the child's father or a qualified caregiver, on top of his own paternity leave. Toggle this in the calculator above.
