Your salary
We deduct your employee share of SSS, PhilHealth and Pag-IBIG, then the BIR withholding tax on the remaining taxable pay. Employer shares are not deducted from your salary.

Why is my take-home pay lower than the salary I was offered?
This is the question almost every Filipino employee asks on their first payday. You agreed to a ₱30,000 salary, but only around ₱26,500 shows up in your account. Nothing is wrong — the gap is your mandatory government deductions. By law, every private-sector employee contributes to three funds, and the BIR withholds income tax on top:
🏥 SSS
Your pension, sickness, disability and maternity safety net. Your employer matches (and adds more than) your share.
⚕️ PhilHealth
National health insurance. 5% of your salary, split 50/50 — you pay half, your employer the other half.
🏠 Pag-IBIG
Housing fund and savings. Capped at ₱200/month once you earn ₱10,000 or more — the smallest deduction.
🧾 Withholding tax
BIR income tax, collected every payday so you don't owe a lump sum at year-end. ₱0 if you earn ₱20,833/month or less.
The good news: the three contributions are not lost money — they are tax-exempt and buy you real benefits (a pension, free hospital cover, a housing loan). Only the withholding tax is a true tax.
How your net pay is calculated, step by step
Payroll always follows the same order. The three contributions come off first because they are tax-exempt — so the tax is calculated on a smaller amount.
Start with your gross monthly salary
Your basic pay before any deduction.
Subtract SSS, PhilHealth and Pag-IBIG
Your employee share of all three. The total is your tax-exempt contributions.
That leaves your taxable pay
Gross minus the three contributions. This is what the BIR taxes.
Subtract the BIR withholding tax
Computed on your taxable pay using the TRAIN table. What remains is your net take-home pay.
Net pay = Gross − SSS − PhilHealth − Pag-IBIG − Withholding tax Worked example: a ₱30,000 monthly salary
Using the official 2026 rates, here is exactly how a ₱30,000 gross salary becomes a ₱26,542.50 take-home.
Net take-home
₱26,542.50
You keep
88.5%
Total deducted
₱3,457.50

| Gross salary | Contributions | Withholding tax | Net take-home | You keep |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ₱15,000 | ₱1,325 | ₱0 | ₱13,675 | 91.2% |
| ₱20,000 | ₱1,700 | ₱0 | ₱18,300 | 91.5% |
| ₱25,000 | ₱2,075 | ₱314 | ₱22,611 | 90.4% |
| ₱30,000 | ₱2,450 | ₱1,008 | ₱26,543 | 88.5% |
| ₱40,000 | ₱2,950 | ₱2,618 | ₱34,432 | 86.1% |
| ₱50,000 | ₱3,200 | ₱4,568 | ₱42,232 | 84.5% |
| ₱75,000 | ₱3,825 | ₱9,669 | ₱61,506 | 82.0% |
| ₱100,000 | ₱4,450 | ₱15,763 | ₱79,788 | 79.8% |
Notice your SSS and Pag-IBIG stop rising once you hit the salary ceilings — above ₱35,000 (SSS) and ₱10,000 (Pag-IBIG), only PhilHealth and tax keep growing.
